OVERVIEW
05/
After successful development and launch of the Illustrate Change activation at the Aspen Ideas Festival, the team wanted to reimagine the visual identity of the brand and experiential design for its second rollout.
We overhauled portions of the current design system with a sophisticated look to better reflect the key initiatives of the campaign.
A group of 10 influential stakeholders in education, workforce development, and government aimed to visualize the complexities of new LER technology for both ecosystem organizations and broader audiences. Their goal is to drive LER adoption in ways that enhance learner agency and promote economic mobility.
To create a comprehensive, interactive map offering a high-level overview of the organizational ecosystem and outlines actionable steps each stakeholder group can take—both now and in the future—to drive adoption.

INITIAL BRANDING

INitial
Branding +
CONCEPT

The focal point of the Illustrate Change brand revolved around medical illustrator Chidiebere Ibe's illustrations of black and bipoc representation in medical education.

The intention of the initial art direction was simplistic, minimalist color palette to let the illustrations and color of illustrations stand out.

DESIGN
SYSTEM

While we wanted the the illustrations to remain the focal point of the design system, we wanted to introduce a new color palette that achieved this through emphasis rather than contrast. Thus we applied softer tones and several shades of browns to underpin the range of skin tones of the illustrations.

The main typeface VTC Bayard is a unique sans-serif inspired by signs from the 1963 March On Washington For Jobs and Freedom, chosen to further highlight the black and bipoc focus of the campaign.
